Privacy at HomeRev
Plain language. No legalese. What we collect, why, and what we never do.
What we collect
- Your GTA address — stored so we can pull property data and show you an assessment.
- Your email + phone — only if you book a site visit or ask us to email you the report.
- Assessment metadata — the recommendation we generated, lot characteristics, and similar past projects (used to improve future estimates).
What we never do
- Sell your data to anyone.
- Share your data with anyone other than the contractor visiting your property — and only with your consent.
- Run third-party ad pixels (Meta, Google, etc.).
- Run remarketing or behavioral tracking.
Where your data lives
Encrypted Canadian-and-US cloud infrastructure. Your address and booking details live in a managed Postgres database. Anonymized property feature vectors (lot characteristics only, no personal data) live in a separate vector store for similarity search. Transactional emails go through a dedicated delivery provider.
Third-party services we use
To generate your assessment, we make brief API calls to specialized providers across four categories:
- Mapping & geocoding — converts your typed address into precise coordinates and draws the property map.
- Canadian property data — public-records-derived facts about your home (year built, basement details, lot dimensions).
- Satellite & street imagery — a single image used briefly for our automated side-entrance detection. The image is not stored after the assessment completes.
- AI assessment generation — a large language model drafts the report from the structured data above. No personal contact info is shared with the AI provider.
Each provider is bound by their own privacy terms. We don't share your data with anyone outside this integration set unless you explicitly book a site visit (in which case the local contractor visiting your property receives your name and contact info, with your consent). For the full list of providers we work with or a copy of our data-processing agreements, email hello@homerev.ca.
How long we keep it
Assessments and the anonymized feature vector: kept indefinitely so we can improve future estimates (your address stays attached until you ask us to remove it). Booking + email-capture records: kept as long as you're a customer or until you ask us to delete them.
Your rights (PIPEDA)
Email hello@homerev.ca to: see what we have on you, correct it, or have it deleted. We'll respond within 7 days.
Analytics + cookies
We use a privacy-friendly web-analytics tool to measure how the site is used — page views, what percentage of visitors complete an assessment, where users drop off in the booking flow. This is what tells us if the product is working.
We've configured analytics with privacy-protective defaults:
- IP anonymization on — the last segment of your IP address is dropped before anything is stored.
- No cross-device tracking — we don't link your visits across devices using any third-party identity service.
- No ad personalization — your visit isn't used to personalize ads you see elsewhere on the web.
Analytics does set first-party cookies for session continuity. We don't run third-party remarketing pixels, no Meta Pixel, no TikTok Pixel, no cross-site tracking networks. To opt out of analytics entirely, use your browser's Do Not Track setting or contact us at hello@homerev.ca.
Changes to this policy
When we change anything material, we'll update the date above and email everyone who has shared an email with us.
